Woman on Fire Award
On April 17, 2023, Melanie received a 2023 Woman on Fire Award in recognition of her healing work with women. Click here to learn more about Melanie. This was the 11th year for the Woman on Fire Awards, with proceeds going to support women and children in Haiti.

The trauma of losing her brother to H1N1 prompted Melanie to sound the alarm in her local city and provincial paper at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were not taking the threat seriously. The editors saw fit to publish her piece on the front page, which you can read in full here.
